Kari Thane is a girl from Emond's Field and possibly a relative of Jon Thane, the miller. When Moiraine tells Egwene there are two women from Emond's Field who can channel, Egwene asks if she meant Kari Thane or Lara Ayellin (Reference: The Eye of the World, Chapter 17).
