Miren

General

Miren is one of Min's three aunts. She lives in Baerlon, Andor (LoC, Ch. 41).

Min thinks that Miren seems to know a bit more about the world than her other aunts, Jan and Rana. While Jan and Rana tell Min not to kiss a man unless you mean to marry him, Miren tells her not to kiss a man too casually because men fall in love too easily (ACoS, Ch. 10). Miren claims that there are three lies any man will believe from a woman; one of them is that a woman enjoys being held by a man just as much as sleeping with him (TPoD, Ch. 27).

Timeline

• After the death of Min's father, her aunts try to make her into a "proper" woman. Min thinks that perhaps Miren understood that it might be too late to start stuffing Min into dresses, but they still tried (LoC, Ch. 41).

• When Min gets into trouble because of her viewings, her aunts protect her. When one viewing comes true about a married man and another woman, the man's wife becomes angry and blames it on Min; Miren promises to spank her for spreading tales, but all three of Min's aunts know the truth (ACoS, Ch. 2).

• When Min is twenty, her aunts see to it that she does not work for long at an inn called The Miners' Rest (LoC, Ch. 41).
