General
Baran is a foppish young Tairen lord with a sharp nose; he is gambling with Mat when Mat is attacked by a bubble of evil that makes his playing cards come to life and attack him (TSR, Ch. 2).
Baran is in Cairhien when Couladin and the Shaido attack; he is sent out to try and find help but is killed by an Aiel spear (TFoH, Ch. 30).
