Deryl is a man who lives in Ebou Dar. He works as a guard at a ringmaker's stall.
He is one-eyed and large enough that Mat thinks he might have a difficult time standing up in the stall. He sits cramped in the corner of the stall on a stool and carries a long cudgel studded with nail heads.
When Mat is following a Darkfriend, Mili Skane, he stops at the ringmaker's stall in order to keep hidden and tries on a ring. When Mili Skane moves on, Mat cannot get the ring off, and the ringmaker tells Deryl to find a grease pot. Mat, in a hurry to leave, slaps some coins down for the ring.
