General

Rina Hafden is an Aes Sedai of the Green Ajah and is a Sitter in Elaida's Hall of the Tower (CoT, Prologue).

Rina has a square face and is stocky, yet manages to look lovely and graceful (NS, Ch. 7). She has an upturned nose (CoT, Ch. 21).

Timeline

  • Rina meets with Elaida and other Sitters to discuss entering into negotiations with the rebels (CoT, Ch. 21).
  • Although not mentioned, Rina can be assumed to stand for Egwene to be raised Amyrlin.
  • After the Tower is reunified, Rina steps down and is replaced by Farnah (ToM, Ch. 27).

Relationships

Rina has two Warders, Waylin and Elyas Machera (NS, Ch. 7). Elyas ran away when it was discovered that he could talk to wolves and Rina fuzzed the bond. She did not seek him out, but Elyas is always afraid that he will run into her again (TPoD, Ch. 10).

In the Hall, Talene and Rubinde stand higher than Rina. This is because they have worn the shawl for longer than she has (CoT, Ch. 21).

Miscellaneous

Rina is not very old - she has worn the shawl between twenty two and fifty years - and would normally be too young to be considered for the Hall. However, she is part of the trend of Sitters being too young for the position (NS, Ch. 7; CoT, Prologue; CoT, Ch. 21).

The three Green Sitters were ordered to support negotiations with the rebels by their head of Ajah, Adelorna (CoT, Ch. 21).

Quotes

"Rina Hafden... was urging them on with a wide smile, calling, "Well struck, Waylin! Oh, very well struck, Elyas!"" (New Spring, Chapter 7).

"Worst thing would be to run into Rina. I'd rather be caught in a forest fire with both legs broken." (Elyas to Perrin about Rina; The Path of Daggers, Chapter 10).

"To cap it off, Talene says the Greens nominate choices and their Captain-General chooses one, but Adelorna chose Rina without any nominations." (Seaine about Rina being too young; Crossroads of Twilight, Prologue).
