Zaired Elbar was a Seanchan officer in Suroth's service and a Darkfriend. He was tall with a dark face and a hooked nose (TGH, Ch40).

Timeline

• He accompanied Suroth when they captured Egwene and Min. The latter cut Elbar when he wanted to seize her and he tried to behead her then (TGH, Ch40).

• After the Seanchan took Amador, he escorted Morgase to the High Lady Suroth. When he forced Morgase to prostrate herself before Suroth, Suroth had him report himself for punishment. Morgase notes, however, that the whole action was planned beforehand (ACoS, Ch26).

• Suroth thought of what to do with Liandrin. If she were killed, Elbar could dispose of her body easily, but Suroth liked having her as da'covale. However, she thought about having Elbar find some Darkfriends among the sul'dam to collar Liandrin. When Semirhage told Suroth that the Imperial Family on the other side of the Aryth Ocean was dead, Tuon was the only person that prevented Suroth from claiming the Crystal Throne. She assigned Elbar and a large contingent of soldiers to find and kill Tuon (KoD, Prologue).

• He died during the fighting against the Band and Musenge brought his head to Karede. He was known to be loyal only to Suroth, so she was made da'covale by Tuon for the order to have her killed (KoD, Epilogue).
