Doni is a Tairen child of a poor family and about 10 years old. He is ragged and dirty.

When Rand sees Poel's steamwagon in and asks himself what it is, Doni tells him what he heard about it, though most of his information wrong. His companion Com corrects him constantly. They both have seen the invention several times before.

Rand gives both of them a gold crown. Later, he tells the Defenders of the Stone to go look for Doni and Com and put them under their protection, because Rand thinks that Min had a negative viewing about them.
