Ellya is the daughter of Careme Mowly and a man who left them to become a Warder. She was born about a week before Gitara Moroso's Foretelling.
When Moiraine is taking names of newly born children and their parents, she sees Ellya huddled in her mother's cloak and asks who she is. Although her mother does not want anything from the White Tower, Moiraine gets their names from a Murandian noble's serving maid.
