The major events at TarValon.Net in 2009.

General

TarValon.Net became incorporated. This allows for focusing more on philanthropy. The process for becoming a non-profit was begun. The Tar Valon Times moved to the Department of Community Development. The position of Shatayan was created and filled by Arisaema Draconis. Ubahsur Kindellaer took over as director of the Department of Administration. Department of Philanthropy was established as its own department.

Administration

Admin Meeting

The 2009 Administrative Meeting was held after JordanCon.

Several changes were made at the year's Admin Meeting. Among the most significant was to create a Department of Events and Conferences, and a Department of Philanthropy. The Departments will begin to move related materials off of the forums and into Google Docs. Ubahsur Kindellaer was brought on board as a professional volunteer HR-consultant. The Administration will keep track of all that apply for high level jobs for 3 years. They will also generate affirmative action and other reports.

Membership Survey

Nearly 300 members participated from over 20 countries. They answered questions on a range of Tower related subjects and gave detailed information on the demographics of our members.

Membership

General

Of the 62 new Novices and Recruits who joined in 2009, 29 of them joined TarValon.net in the same year. The number of applicants to the Tower dropped by 24% from the previous year's 82. In 2009, the Blue Ajah had the highest number of members at 52, and the Company with the highest number of members was Dai M'Hael at 36.

Raisings

Thirty-four people were raised Aes Sedai and fourteen people raised Gaidin.

Bondings

Seventeen couples were bonded.

Demotions

Eight people demoted this year.

Online Events

  • Bel Tine: Specific dates are unknown, but this event was typically held in April.
  • Shaoman: Specific dates are unknown, but this event was typically around Halloween.
  • Feast of Lights: This event took place between December 20 and December 27.

Events

This was the first year for the Department of Events & Conferences. Several successful events were held this year.

March 27-29, held in Skipton, UK. 23 people attended.

February 13-16, held in Millersylvania, Washington. 70 people attended.

August 7-9, held in Driebergen, The Netherlands. 27 people attended.

October 30-November 1, held in Kansas City, Missouri. 22 people attended.

Held in Atlanta, Georgia. 24 members were known to have attended.

April 17-19, held in Alpharetta, Georgia. This was the very first JordanCon. 19 members were known to have attended.

Staff

In addition to the changes noted above, there were several other major changes in staffing. Ilissa al'Nari was Director of the Department of Community Development from September 3-November 13, at which time Adina al'Mari took over for the remainder of the year. Serinia Edoras became the Director of the Department of Events and Conferences on May 9. The Department of Moderators went through several Director changes during this year: Serinia Edoras from March 26-May 1, Calypsa al'Nicolai from May 2 - November 13, and Vivianna L'antreau from November 14 onward. Toral Delvar took over as Director of the Department of Research on April 8. On July 21, Neisa Alibrylla became Mistress of Novices, and on April 8, Emp Orer became Captain of Recruits. Eireann Namar became the new Mistress of Accepted on July 1, with Lucas al'Baine taking over as Captain of Soldiers on October 7. The newly instated Department of Philanthropy was head by Yelenia Hylraren from June 10-December 23, with Kariada Kunai taking over from that point on.
